Max Carter - Life Member CCTTA

Max Carter moved to the Central Coast in November 1977. It took him little time to seek out where his two favourite sports were being played - Table Tennis and Baseball. In early 1978 he enrolled as a player in the CCTTA at the community hall of East Gosford. It was there that he met Phoebe Thornley, Ben Slattery and John Harris. The team SPEEDIES was formed which continued as a team playing name for many years.
Max previously played in the Sutherland Shire Table Tennis Association in Sydney where he was Treasurer of that very large association for some years. In 1979 Max took over the role of President of the CCTTA from Ken Lamb who had been at the helm for 13 years, a truly remarkable effort by Ken who was very happy to find someone to take over his role after such a long time in charge.
During Max's three years as President, he was involved with committee members in moving the CCTTA playing venues from East Gosford Community Hall to Mount Penang Boys Home, then to Woy Woy Youth Centre and finally to Henry Kendall High School. These moves were always made with one view in mind and that being to provide the CCTTA members with better playing facilities.
Max was awarded Life Membership in 1983
