Ray Gale - Life Member CCTTA

Ray Gale played table tennis with the association from it’s inception in 1954 until 1994. Prior to this he played at Woy Woy in the 1940’s “in the boat sheds”.Although Ray never held the position of President, Secretary or Treasurer he did serve on the committee. Ray was largely responsible for the continued success of the association by ensuring player numbers were maintained. This was done through regular contact with existing and potential players.
Ray's A Grade ability was highlighted whilst playing at the East Gosford Hall in the early 70’s. Ray made up a team called “SLASHERS’. It’s players varied year to year but mainly included Gordon Dorrough and John Armstrong. They won the A Grade in 1970, 1971, 1974 and 1976. In 1986 the “SLASHERS” won it again with R.Gale, R.May, J.Jones, N.Jones and D. Thomas.
Ray was awarded Life Membership 1972

(Committee member details unknown from 1956 to 1986 though it is believed that Ray was on most, if not all, of these committees)
