Ted Hollands - Life Member CCTTA 2015

An article in the 1963 March 1st Central Coast Express described Ted Hollands as a promising junior member of the Central Coast Table Tennis Club. 3 Club Open Singles Championships, a Veterans Singles Title and multiple team victories over the ensuing years confirm the newspaper's statement. What the paper didn't predict was the many hundred of hours Ted would contribute to the club behind the scenes.
Ted's catch cry of "I'll get it!" refers to just about everything from picking up a ball on the ground to setting up the tables and barriers on match nights. He is constantly giving his time to preparing the venue on a weekly basis and also for major competitions such as Country Championships, Country vs City Matches and Australia Open when they are held at our facility. Most players take it for granted that the tables, scoreboards, barriers, etc are always in playable conditions and very few give any thoughts to who carries out the maintenance of the club's equipment - a majority of the time it is Ted Hollands working away to make sure things are ready.
A typical example of Ted's fortitude and desire to see the CCTTA succeed was seen during the first half of 2015. Ted's health prevented him from playing the sport yet, with the exception of two nights, he arrived before the players to set up the venue for play before going home. Ted's resiliency had him back on the courts later that year, barely missing a step, and making it to the finals of the Open Doubles at the 2015 Club Championships.
Ted's performance on and off the court shows the true character of a person well worthy of his Life Membership, which was presented in 2015 end of year presentation.
Ted was also awarded the Dave Beaumont Perpetual Trophy from the Table Tennis NSW Country League in 2017. This was in further recognition of his continual support of CCTTA and the sport.
